There is a big buzz surrounding the annual Millennium Countdown stage show, promoted by Downsound Records, as its eighth staging in Nassau, Bahamas from October 30 to November 2 will be its most ambitious effort to date featuring heavyweight acts such as Donnie McClurkin, Keyshia Cole and dancehall mainstays such as Bounty Killer, Mavado and Queen Ifrica.
Downsound Records has teamed up with Sigma Management to promote the event this year, which has moved from a one-day event to a four night event.
R&B, and gospel acts have been incorporated into this year’s staging of the event. Josef Bogdanovich of Downsound Records, said the reason the annual event has always been a success in the Bahamas is because the promoters ensure that they place content above hype.
“The event will be staged at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre in Nassau Bahamas, we will have four nights of entertainment for the fans of POP, R&B, Reggae/Dancehall, Gospel and Fashion from Thursday October 30th through Sunday November 3rd, all in one weekend in Nassau, Bahamas,” Down Sound CEO Josef Bogdanovich said.
Mr. Bogdanovich said that he had already confirmed “260 people from the New York Tri-State area” based on promotions in that region and that hundreds more were anticipated from South Florida
“Even with the present economic climate, we feel that people still want to escape the doldrums of their life and liste to some uplifting music. The response has been phenomenal so far, especially for the final night, the gospel night where a church which has over 38,000 members, will showcase its choir for 15 minutes. There will be another large choir from the Bahamas on display as well as Yolanda Adams and Donnie McClurkin. It’s a great night for gospel entertainment,” he said.
Other performers on the gospel night are Landlord and Christian Massive on November 2.
There will be a pre-party and fashion show on October 30, followed by International night on October 31 which will feature Keyshia Cole, Sanchez, Morgan Heritage and Etana. On November 1, Reggae-Dancehall night will feature the likes of Mavado, Jah Cure, Bounty Killer, Harry Toddler, Queen Ifrica, Tony Rebel, Drco, Magma, Temperature, Chi Ching, Princess Menen, Sky Juice and Dj Smurf.
The Millennium Countdown series has grown into a major international event and tourist attraction for the Bahamas and has built a solid and reliable reputation among concert-goers around the world mainly because of its record of featuring the very best reggae artistes. Last year’s event was headlined by Jah Cure.
