Jah Cure shoots video for his new single

Posted by admin On April - 25 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

jah_cureJamaican Reggae star Jah Cure is on the brink of releasing his highly anticipated album, The Universal Cure (SoBe/DangerZone), and is back with a new hit single that’s heating up airwaves across the Caribbean, and beyond.

“Call On Me,” a romantic duet recorded with SoBe labelmate, R&B/Pop singer Phyllisia, is already topping reggae playlists worldwide. Now the alluring single is bound to place Jah Cure at the very top of reggae charts, as he looks forward to the release of his new album come early April.

“I feel excited about this album, because this is the first album that I’ve made since I’ve been out of incarceration,” states the soulful singer, whom many say is reminiscent of the great Bob Marley. “When all the other albums were released, I was in incarceration, so this is the first album that I made as a free man, and the first album launch I’ll ever have in my life. So this album is more sentimental, and I’m out here to make it grow and make it connect to the fans more. It’s a joy to be able to promote it to my fans and to the media, and to participate in platforms like Facebook and YouTube, and advertise it as a free man to the free world.”

The video was commissioned by SoBe Entertainment and DangerZone Music Group. It was shot over a two-day period in luscious Ocho Rios, Jamaica, with locations spanning the luxurious Royal Plantation resort and surrounding beaches. The video was directed by Rhona Fox and is slated for release in the upcoming week.

Courtney John Completes US tour with rock band

Posted by admin On April - 25 - 20091 COMMENT

yogie-courtney-johnSinger Courtney John who hit the top of the charts with Baby Tonight and Miss You, recently completed a 12-show, multi-state US tour with punk-rock-reggae band Michael Franti and Spearhead.

“It was simply amazing,” he declared, adding that he joined the tour on February 11 and played in Minneapolis, Indianpolis, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, South and North Carolina to huge crowds.

“The tour went really great even in spite of the economic climate right now and I felt blessed to be a part of the experience. The tour was mostly sold out courtesy of Michael Franti and it allowed me to introduce myself to a whole new audience,” Courtney John said.

The audience that attends a Michael Franti concert is usually an eclectic mix of young college grads and professionals most of whom have only the most academic idea of reggae music outside of Bob Marley’s oeuvre.

“They didn’t know me before, so it was all up to me to deliver a great performance and achieve some level of ‘connectability’. So I did my complete set, choosing different songs from the audience, and I was able to sell quite a number of CDs to these young professional people,” he said.

Courtney John’s ‘Miss You’ is included on the award-winning Reggae Jammin, Volume I which is produced by Tads Records Inc.

Now that he has returned to Jamaica, Counrtney John is aggressively promoting his latest single, Lucky Man which is the lead single for his upcoming album, Made In Jamaica. The album will be released on the singer’s own Fiwi Music label.

“The feedback so far has been excellent so far on the single and the disc jockeys are really looking forward to the release of the album. It just goes to show you that if you focus on making good music, everything else will fall into place,” Courtney John said. “Everything.”

D’ANGEL PERFORMS IN BELIZE, LOS ANGELES

Dancehall First Lady D’Angel is really the hardest working woman in dancehall today. The self-styled fashionista is now in Belize, on the back end of a whirlwind mini-tour that took her to the United States for a performance in Los Angeles, California before jetting to Belize. D’Angel has been able to brand herself as one of the class acts in Jamaican dancehall. She has worked hard to develop a decent repertoire of songs and scored a number one with Stronger, and that is not enough, she is constantly challenging herself and experiment with different genres of music. She is really the hardest working woman in Jamaican show business ,” D’Angel’s personal assistant, Andre, told one876entertainment.

Last week, she went on a media blitz of sorts doing an interview with a TV crew from Citizen TV from Kenya, an interview with a popular entertainment website/Internet Radio site and an entertainment magazine, the New York-based Yard Magazine. She also did two phone interviews, one with 99.5 FM with DJ Special and Motion from Belize, and another with Mikey Bashment.

D’Angel also hosted the grand opening of Club Jamaica Jamaica in Runaway Bay last Friday.
